Author Guidelines

We are open to a wide range of methodological approaches, provided they lead to scientifically grounded conclusions. Econometric analysis, experiments, surveys, meta-analyses, case studies, simulation-based analyses, economic and social theory, randomized control trials, and literature reviews (to name but a few common approaches) are all welcome. Arguments may be based on a variety of theoretical frameworks, including those which do not assume fully rational behavior.

Empirical results should be both theoretically grounded and both economically and statistically significant. We welcome replications of existing papers, and are particularly open to "non-results", which may be of great practical and scientific value yet are less likely to reach the audience of most academic journals.

Articles should be written in a manner that is intelligible to economists, non-economists and policy-makers from all backgrounds. Empirical results should be explained in the text without the need for formal models.  Technical details, detailed formal models, and extensive mathematical presentations should be relegated to appendices (printed or online).

Articles must be less than 3,500 words.

  2. If possible then please use the LaTeX format-- we have created a template for you to use:

    • Download this zip file to your computer.  Do not extract the files—leave the zip as is.
    • Go to overleaf.com and sign in or create an account.
    • Once you have logged in, click the up arrow button to the left of the search box and select Upload zip file.
    • Overleaf will unzip the files automatically into its system and create the template for you to edit.

  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
